Porec
Istrien
The contry on the eastern side of the Adriadic Sea, with its many islands, not only covers the needs of the sun-bathers and water rats. Croatia offers numerous water sports possibilities such as water skiing, surfing or diving. Aside from the beach there is also biking, riding , rafting, canoeing and kayaking, tennis or beach volleyball available for the active vacationer. In the evenings you can stroll through the narrow lanes and across the harbour promenade, sit in the street cafés and watch the colourful happenings.
Even though most tourists are attracted to the coast, the Croatian inland offers impressive towns, above all Zagreb. Its historical centre consists of narrow, cobblestone lanes, remains of the Roman Empire and many interesting churches. Other main attractions are the National Parks. The Kornati National Park is an Archipel, consisting of over 90, almost untouched islands. The Krka National Park cosists of a picturesque canyon with spectacular waterfalls. Near Zagreb you will find the impressive Plitvice National Park, with its 16 marvellous lakes, connected by waterfalls, and awarded as an UNESCO World Nature Inheritance.
